What is Tubing Mascara and How Does it Work?
Tubing mascara NZ

Mascara is a staple for nearly any kind of eye look. Bold looks with bright colours and long lashes are perfect for wowing your peers, and natural looks with subtly enhanced lashes are ideal for everyday life. If you’re a makeup enthusiast in NZ, you may have heard of tubing mascara before.

Although this mascara type has existed for a while, it has experienced a boom in popularity in recent years. But what is it, what makes it so special and how do you use it?

What Is Tubing Mascara?

The primary difference between tubing mascara and traditional mascara is the way it enhances lashes. Like the name implies, rather than painting your lashes, tubing mascara creates a small ‘tube’ around each lash.

This results in beautiful lashes that are more stable, dry quicker, last longer and don’t smudge. Because they create lash tubes instead of adding pigment, they don’t smudge. The tubes are also water resistant, so they won’t come off if you get wet, sweat or cry. Their longevity, durability and beauty make them great for long-lasting, low-maintenance looks.

If you have sensitive eyes, look for tubing mascaras in NZ that are suitable for you, like Blinc Amplified Tubing Mascara.

Why choose tubing mascara over other types of mascara?

  • No Smudging Or Running. As mentioned, the tubes are water-resistant, so you won’t have to stress about accidentally getting your lashes wet and ruining your look.
  • No Clumping Or Flaking. Each lash is coated separately, so properly applied tubing mascara doesn’t clump, and it really doesn’t flake at all. Enjoy neat, beautiful lashes with top-notch tubing mascara. If you get it on your cheek by mistake, just wait for it to dry, and then flick it off with a cotton bud - no smudge or mess.
  • Perfect For Active Lifestyles. Because the tubes are water-resistant, tubing mascara is great for those with active lifestyles. Do you love to exercise but hate it when sweat ruins your eye look? Tubing mascara can stay beautiful even when you’re exercising, in a humid environment or have oily skin.
  • Simple Removal. Tubing mascara can be removed with warm water and gentle pressure without leaving smudge marks or needing harsh makeup remover.

How To Use Tubing Mascara For Your Next NZ Day Out

You can use tubing mascara just like you’d use standard mascara. Here are a few tips to help you out for your next  beautiful look:

  • Start With Clean Lashes. Make sure your lashes are clean and dry before you start applying your mascara. This will help prevent clumping or uneven coating.
  • Start From The Base. Apply the mascara at the base of your lashes, then move the wand out to the tips to fully coat your lashes.
  • Wiggle The Wand. Wiggle the wand slightly as you apply to ensure better separation, lift and definition.
  • Build Volume. If you want beautiful, voluminous lashes, continue applying the mascara until you achieve the look you want.
  • Clean The Mascara Bottle. Once you’re finished, clean off any mascara residue from the cap of the mascara bottle so that it closes properly. Do this every time you use your tubing mascara to keep it in good condition and prevent opening and closing problems down the track.

How To Remove Your Tubing Mascara

Because tubing mascara is long-lasting, beautiful and perfect for NZ’s climate, it doesn’t come off as easily as standard mascara types. However, this means you can’t remove it with normal makeup remover or water alone. Makeup remover, water and pressure cannot remove the lash tubes on their own. Instead, you need to use a combination of water and gentle pressure to remove your tubing mascara.

  • Apply Lots Of Warm Water. Use a showerhead, cotton pad or your fingers to apply plenty of water to your tubing mascara. Remember that you do not need to use any makeup remover.
  • Use Gentle Pressure. Use gentle pressure from your fingers or a washcloth on your lashes. With the water and the pressure, the tubes will easily slide off of your lashes in small pieces.
  • Avoid Pulling On Your Lashes. Don’t pull or tug on your lashes, and remain patient and gentle. If the mascara doesn’t come off as easily as it should, then apply more water and continue applying pressure.
  • Dispose Of The Lash Tubes. If this is your first time using tubing mascara, remember that the whole tube will come off of your lashes rather than getting wiped away like standard mascara. Seeing the lash tubes in your hand or washcloth after removal can be a shock at first, and you may be worried that you lost some of your lashes. No worries, these are just the tubes, and you should dispose of them.
